CHAMPIONS LEAGUE:WHEN A club exits the Champions League there is the tendency to search souls, conduct postmortems and reassess blueprints. For Tottenham Hotspur, who are not yet ......
Now, that we know all 32 teams that will travel to South Africa and compete in the WC tournement, it´s a great time to take a look of some of the great players who will watch WC 2010 from their homes.
Below is my list of the starting eleven football starts who failed to quilify for WC 2010.
Goalkeeper: Petr Čech
A goalkeeper who plays for Chelsea and has received the individual award of Best Goalkeeper in the 2004/2005, 2006/2007 and 2007/2008 seasons of the UEFA Champions League will not compete in South Africa after his country failed to qualify for WC 2010.
Left-back: John Arne Riise
Former Liverpool player, who plays for Roma this season will not be able to show the world his famous shots from range that made him feared by goalkeepers.
Centre-half: Thomas Vermaelen
It´s hard to believe that this guy is playing centre-half in Arsenal. He has already scored 4 goals for his team this season and is a huge success in Premier League. Unfortunately, we won´t be able to enjoy his "goals" in South Africa.
Centre-half: Cristian Chivu
Chivu is a great centre-half but even he couldn´t help Romania to quilify for the WC 2010. This Inter defender will have to watch WC 2010 on TV.

Right-back: Vedran Corluka
I really like this Tottenham player. He is a great right back who is not afraid to attack from his position.

Left midfield: Andrei Arshavin
It´s really hard to believe that a player like Arshavin won´t be able to play in WC 2010. He has everything that a modern midfielder need, pace, technique and he can score from almost every position.
Centre midfield: Luka Modric
I believe that Luka Moric injury was the main reason why Croatia failed to qualify for WC 2010. He has been in an outstanding form before his injury and I hope that he will continue to impress us again with his skills very soon.
Centre midfield: Alexander Hleb
Even though Belarus didn´t have huge chances to qualify for the WC 2010, the skill of Hleb will surely be missed.
Right midfield: Antonio Valencia
Valencia has been in a good form for Manchester United lately but Ecuador failed to quilify for WC 2010 and Valencia will have to watch WC on the TV.
Centre forward: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The big Swede has been in amazing form in La Liga. He has scored many goals for Barcelona so far and I am sure that he will score many more. Unfortunately, he won´t score any in WC 2010.
Centre forward: Edin Džeko
Edin Džeko has been in an amazing form last season. He scored many goals for his team, Wolfsburg, and is wanted by many big clubs in Europe, including Manchester United and Ac Milan. He scored many goals for his country, Bosnia and Herzegovina, but that was not enough to get him a plane ticket to South Africa.
Would you rather see some other player in this list? Let me know what you think.
